Walk Move Gesture Dance:  pedestrian & abstract movement for performance.

This workshop encourages the exploration of movement as a creative tool for theatre and performance artists who wish to develop their physical presence through clarity of movement and embodiment. Walk Move Gesture Dance, will explore the pedestrian act of walking, the ways in which movement can enhance a work of theatre, the direct action of gesture and choreographic possibilities within theatrical contexts.

Over this two day workshop, participants will have the opportunity to explore the ways they move, the ways they want to move and develop patterning and clarity within their bodies. Through exercises, observation and conversation, this workshop uses a variety of techniques in which we can, as a group, discover a greater sense of confidence within the use of movement in our art forms, whether it be as simple as picking up a glass of water, or as intricate as a choreographic phrase.

Mapping Memories, Tracing Pathways: Embodying spaces & places as material.

This workshop stems from Linnea's graduate research into embodied memory, space, identity and the body. Utilizing techniques employed during the rehearsal and research towards her show in several times, participants will work through mapping spaces from memory, embodiment of place and following devised pathways to generate spatial patterning and compositional material.

Participants will work both individually and as a group, to create compositions, stories and discussion around how we remember, how we hold space within our bodies and what happens when multiple memories/spaces collide.

Who is this workshop for? Anyone working with the body or storytelling. Anyone looking to generate material from an autobiographical source.

What will I need to attend this workshop? Your body! Your mind! A sentimental item, comfortable clothes to move in, layers to take on and off, a water bottle & a snack.

How long is this workshop? 4 hours including a 15 minute break.
